LMSW 12 Week Prep Workshops

As many of you know, the LMSW and LCSW licensure for social workers is very important for professional and program growth, especially for social workers providing direct services. Beginning in mid-February 2010, Hunter College School of Social Work (HCSSW) in partnership with Hamilton-Madison House will be offering LMSW prep workshops for Asian social workers.

A total of 12 two-hour sessions will be taught by Dr. Irene Chung, Associate Professor and Chair of Clinical Practice with Individuals and Families at HCSSW to review LMSW content materials and sample exam questions in workbooks. The emphases of the workshops will be: 1) to help those who are non-native English speakers acquire an adequate command of vocabulary to take the exam; 2) to provide a theoretical lens that is more congruent with a nationwide examination in interpretation of case vignettes and practice concepts.

In addition, participants will beoffered:

- Individual assistance in the application process
- Group session on overview of the LMSW exam and study strategies.
- Access to study guides and practice exam workbooks
- Individual supportive counseling sessions with HCSSW's License Exam Prep Coordinator.
- Free use of a CD Rom with 900 sample test questions at the HCSSW's library
any time throughout the course of the workshops.
- Paid online mock exam

The 12 week LMSW prep workshops are funded through Asian American Federation and will be FREE to participants. Workshop days and times will be determined at a later date. Location of the workshops will be at both Hunter College School of Social Work, 129 E. 79th St, and Hamilton-Madison House 253 South Street site.

The workshops will be open to only Asian social workers with MSW degrees. Please note that the workshops can only accommodate a total of 12 participants and will be on a first come, first serve basis.
Early registration is strongly encouraged.

Please distribute this opportunity among your staff and contact me at (212) 720-4524 or joyluangphaxay@hmhonline.org for registration or more information.
